What is Acupuncture?

At its heart, acupuncture is a restorative therapy that encourages your body's natural recovery systems. Using ultra-fine, sterile, single-use filaments - roughly the thickness of a single strand of hair - our practitioners gently place them at precise anatomical points to calm overstimulated pain pathways, improve local circulation, and release persistent muscular tension.

  • Hair-Thin Precision: Flexible, solid filaments that glide gently into tissue rather than pierce like hollow injection needles.
  • Purely Sterile & Single-Use: Every filament is individually packaged, used once in a spotless setting, and safely recycled.
  • Soothing Sensation: Most people feel little to nothing upon insertion, followed by a mild warmth or comforting release.

Comfortable, unhurried care in a quiet clinical environment.

Two Tools, One Plan

Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, Dr. Bursch combines chiropractic adjustments with board-certified acupuncture orthopedics to restore joint mobility and calm neuromuscular tension in unison.

Board-Certified Acupuncture Orthopedics

General acupuncture offers relaxation, but orthopedic acupuncture requires rigorous advanced training. Dr. Bursch holds specialized post-doctoral certification in Acupuncture Orthopedics, allowing him to target intricate motor points, deep fascia, and joint capsules with clinical precision.

  • Post-doctoral orthopedic credentialing for complex pain
  • Precise motor-point stimulation to release chronic muscle spasms
  • Targeted protocols developed specifically for musculoskeletal rehabilitation

Joint Alignment Meets Soft-Tissue Release

When spinal joints are misaligned, neighboring muscles spasm to compensate. Conversely, tight muscular bands pull joints right back out of alignment. By addressing both the skeletal framework and the soft-tissue network together, adjustments hold longer and pain resolves faster.

  • Breaks the repetitive cycle of muscle spasm and joint compensation
  • Reduces local inflammation while restoring healthy nerve conduction
  • Achieves sustainable pain relief without reliance on pharmaceuticals

GENTLE, MINDFUL REASSURANCE

Nervous About Needles?

It is completely normal to feel hesitant. The most important thing to know is that acupuncture needles are entirely different from medical injection shots. They are ultra-fine, solid filaments about the width of a single human hair. Most patients describe the sensation as a subtle tap followed by deep muscular relaxation.

Hair-Thin & Gentle

Over 20 acupuncture filaments fit inside a standard flu-shot needle. They do not cut tissue; they gently glide into place.

Your Questions, Answered

We believe informed care creates a calm, effective healing experience. Here is everything you need to know about clinic safety, expectations, and comfort before your visit.

Still have a specific question?
Our clinical care team is here to walk you through every detail.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most patients feel little to no sensation upon placement. Our needles are hair-thin and solid rather than hollow like injection needles. You may experience a mild warmth, gentle heaviness, or soothing tingling around the point, followed by deep relaxation.

How clean and sterile is the equipment?

We adhere to strict medical-grade Clean Needle Technique protocols. Every needle is 100% single-use, pre-sterilized, surgical stainless steel, opened directly in front of you and safely discarded immediately after your session.

How many sessions will I need?

Treatment length depends on whether your condition is acute or chronic. Acute muscle spasms often improve within 2 to 4 sessions, while long-standing conditions typically benefit from a structured plan of 6 to 10 visits. We assess your progress at every visit.

Can I receive chiropractic adjustments on the same day?

Yes. Combining acupuncture with chiropractic care is one of our specialty protocols. Acupuncture releases surrounding muscle tension and calms inflammation first, allowing gentle chiropractic adjustments to hold longer and feel easier.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Please wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing that can easily roll up past your knees and elbows. If we need to access points along your back, neck, or shoulders, modest clinic gowns and respectful draping are always provided.
